General Practice Residency in Dentistry

Resident Information

  1. The one-year residents receive an annual stipend that is divided in to 26 pay periods (paid every two weeks).
  2. Scrub attire is furnished for patient care areas.
  3. Normal working hours are 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.
  4. Resident training includes a one-week on-call duty, which is assigned every other week.
  5. All federal holidays are observed and 13 days of annual leave are granted.
  6. Administrative leave may be granted for various events at the discretion of the Program Director and Service Chief. Submission of a Request for Administrative Leave is required..
  7. Residents are covered by the Federal Tort Claim Act, and malpractice insurance is not required.
  8. Four-handed dentistry with a full time chair-side assistant for each resident is utilized.
  9. Participation in health insurance and other benefit programs are available at the discretion of the resident.
  10. Upon satisfactory completion of the year of training, residents receive an official certificate from the Department of Veterans Affairs
