General Practice Residency in Dentistry

Resident Benefits
- The General Practice Residency begins on the last Sunday in June is completed on the last Saturday in June. The one-year residents are paid a stipend of $41,200 per annum, paid every two weeks.
- Dental uniforms are furnished. Normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with 45 minutes for lunch, Monday through Friday.
- All federal holidays are observed and 13 days of annual leave are granted.
- Administrative leave may be granted for attending state and regional dental meetings and for taking of a state board examination.
- Resident training includes a one-week on-call duty, which is assigned every other week.
- Upon satisfactory completion of the year of training, residents receive an official certificate from the Department of Veterans Affairs
- The Federal Tort Claim Act covers residents and malpractice insurance is not required.
- Utilization of fourhanded dentistry with a full time assistant chair side for each resident.
- Participation in government group life and health insurance programs are available.
